The Sheffield Rugby Club was established in 1896 and has a proud history. In recent years the club has a sole focus on junior players in the community.  It is important for us to foster these players and help keep our tradition alive.

 

We would like to give you the opportunity to ride over some of the great country our community has to offer, riding over three privately owned farms. We are very lucky to have a local major sponsor and rugby Dad in Matt Collier of Property Brokers Real Estate.

 

The race is 25 km long and this year we will offer a 12 km ride for the recreational rider.  This race for the young and the young at heart!  Riding through paddocks, 4WD tracks and weaving through tussock country. There are a couple of steep short climbs, rewarded by fantastic views of the Canterbury plains and balanced with invigorating descents!

 

Estimated fastest time is 1 hour 20 through to 2 hours 40 for the slowest.

 

Be in to win cash prizes for Fastest Man, Fastest Women of $200 each! And cash for winners of all sections and great prizes for runners up. Not to mention a vast and generous array of spot prizes!  Also there is a $300 R80 rugby store voucher up for grabs in our rugby challenge section to go to his/her local junior rugby club and bragging rights of course!!

 

Family occasion with BBQ, refreshments and bouncy castle available for kids and something stronger for those that have earned it.

 

As mentioned above, this year we will be hosting an 11km Running Race.  This will offer our competitors an opportunity to test their running and strength endurance over a challenging off road run through some beautiful privately owned farms in the back blocks of Canterbury.
